Provide a stimulating Montessori environment for children to explore, absorb and excel into a self confident and independent individual
New Age Montessori is committed to providing an excellent, nurturing Montessori learning environment where children can learn at their own individual pace with continuous progress. Our goal is to cultivate a Montessori environment which will nourish and channel children's natural love for learning and allow them to reach their full potential and develop into self-confident and responsible individuals.
Based on the Montessori curriculum, our spacious classrooms all have the basic learning areas in the "prepared environment" - Language arts, Mathematics, Sensorial, Practical Life, and the Cultural Subjects which include Geography, Science and History. Enrichment programs are also offered. These include Yoga, P.E , Art, Music, Spanish, Computers, Gardening and Cooking Activities. This provides a balanced curriculum for the academic, social and emotional development of each child.
I have a Bachelors in Occupation Therapy from India and a Masters in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman's University with specialization in pediatrics. My Masters thesis was evaluating effectiveness of handwriting programs in elementary kids. I have worked closely with pediatric clients in hospitals, therapy centers and special schools both in India and Dallas. It has always been my passion and desire to work in the development of young kids. Seeing my two daughters thrive in Montessori school, I saw the parallels between Montessori methods and Occupational Therapy. So I decided to serve young kids through Montessori teachings.
I graduated from Law School and worked as an Attorney in the Attorney General’s Dept., in Sri Lanka, before changing careers to become an Early Childhood Educator. It was my own experience as a mother of two sons that led me to value the importance of raising children to become thoughtful and responsible citizens. I am now a certified Montessori Educator and a member of the American Montessori Society, with over 10 years of experience both as an educator and an administrator. As your Director I will strive to ensure that New Age Montessori creates a culture rich in education, caring, respect and wonder.
I graduated from University of Texas at Arlington with B.S. in Elementary Education. I am a Texas Certified Teacher and have taught Kindergarten and Second grade in public school. My teaching experience ranges from infants to Second graders and have also worked as a Parent Counselor in North Carolina. My passion is teaching, inspiring and challenging children to love learning. I started my Montessori teaching experience ten years ago at New Age and now as the Front Office Manager I continue to pursue my passion of working with the children and their families. I am a mother of a 3 year old also attending New Age Montessori.
Our greatest asset has truly been our hardworking and creative teachers. With their nationally recognized Montessori certifications and years of experience, they have helped New Age establish itself as premier Montessori school well respected by peers. Our lead, assistant and even substitute teachers have been part of NAM for long. Over the years they have developed a strong Montessori curriculum and kid friendly environment that parents trust to send their kids to.
